Senator Grace Poe and Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat is expected to grace the ribbon cutting ceremony on October 12, 2018 and share a few words on industry developments. “We are happy to report that our 7.4 million international arrival target for the year is well attainable as first semester figures have already reached 3.7 million. Through the continued support of industry and government partners, we are optimistic of meeting or even exceeding this goal. More importantly, the increased visitor volume and expenditure translate to more jobs and revenues for our country and host communities.” stated Puyat.
“The show does come at a very opportune moment as we all anticipate the re-opening of Boracay Island. However more than just Boracay, we also wish to promote other unique destinations both locally and abroad,” stated Travel Sale Fair Marketing Director, Nicole Go-Cedenio. “Because of the popularity of the show, which is now on its 4th consecutive year, we are set to expand the show into a two-part series on April and October of 2019”, Go-Cedenio adds.
“The first ever Smart Travel Sale Fair is a huge celebration of the Filipinos’ growing passion for exploring the world and sharing all these memorable travel experiences with loved ones,” said Kat Luna-Abelarde, FVP and Group Head of International Roaming; Carrier Business for PLDT and Smart.

TRAVEL SALE FAIR CEBU EDITION
April 21-23, 2018
CEBU, The Travel Sale Fair has officially launched its first show in Cebu City last April 20-22, 2018 at SM City Cebu Trade Hall. Due to the success of the show over the past 4 years, organizers decided to bring the show to the Queen City of the South. Nicole Go-Cedenio, Marketing Director of the show states: “It has always been our objective with each year, to grow the show. Since maxing out capacity in Manila, it was natural for us to branch out to a different location. Without a doubt Cebu came to mind. Being the central hub for not only commerce, but tourism as well, Cebu serves as a jump off point to many local destinations as well as international ones. Many of our exhibitors also came from the Visayas and Mindanao region so we thought it would be nice to bring the show to them instead.”
Part of the exhibitor roster included airlines, travel agencies, hotels and resorts such as Air Asia, Philippine Airelines, Klook, asiatravel.com, Two Seasons and Eskaya Resort & Spa.
The Visayas region has experienced continued growth in the tourism sector. In a tourism statistics released on the same day as the show, by DOT-7 Regional Director Shalimar Tamano, Central Visayas it showed that Central Visayas accounted for almost 3 million of the nearing 7 million tourists in 2017. He further stated that Cebu and other neighboring regions are preparing themselves and are well capable of absorbing the influx of tourists from Boracay bookings.
